Wide Format Digital Printing Capabilities

The Special Projects Group has the right equipment for virtually any graphics project you may have! Our digital printing department makes us a one-stop printing and finishing shop. Send us your print ready files on a disk, in an e-mail or upload to our FTP site. We offer a variety of media including photobase paper, vinyl banner, fine art canvas, backlit film, gator board, foam core and much more. To complete the project let our experienced staff mount, laminate and finish the prints to specification.

Special Projects can print from the following software in both Mac and PC format:

PDFs are always accepted, and it's highly recommended that you submit a PDF with all artwork.

Printers

Agfa Anapurna XL - Direct To Substrate UV Flatbed Printer

Capable of printing edge to edge on almost any surface: flexible, rigid or roll-to-roll up to roughly 98" wide and 1.875" thick. The state of the art printing process uses ultra violet (UV) light to cure the ink onto a wide variety of rigid and flexible substrates. Once cured, the ink is bonded to the substrate and will not require lamination. UV ink, in conjunction with UV light, provides great longevity and vibrancy to a multitude of graphic applications.

Substrates:

Roll Materials: film, paper, self adhesive vinyl and paper, canvas, banner, vinyl, coated and uncoated media.
Rigid Media: corrugated cardboards, exhibition panels, stage graphics, ad panels, gator board, foam core, plexi glass, sintra, coroplast, styrene

HP DesignJet 5000 ps - High Resolution Aqueous Ink Jet Printer

Prints up to 60" wide and is suitable for indoor applications. The HP 5000 has excellent color and high resolution output. Unlike UV printed graphics, all aqueous ink jet graphics must be laminated, which will project the print from damage and scratches. Standard finishing techniques such as applying magnets or velcro, are applied once the graphic has been laminated.

HP DesignJet L25500 - Latex Printer

Prints up to 60" wide and is suitable for indoor and outdoor applications. Latex ink technology has outstanding image quality and creates durable, smudge, scratch and water resistant prints. Latex inks will adhere to most substrates and are recyclable! Combine latex inks with some of our recyclable media and you have a 100% green product.

Mounting

We can mount almost any media to a wide variety of substrates. Prints are mounted to form either rigid panels pr flexible, yet durable graphics. From one of a kind photo prints, to larger quantity POP displays, The Special Projects Group has the capacity to handle your needs. We can mount substrates up to 60" wide!

Custom orders are our specialty, and we stock the following substrates:

Fome-Core®

As its name suggests, foam-core is a lightweight, rigid board with a foam center and a paper casing on both sides. This is one of the least expensive mounting boards we offer and is best used on smaller applications. It is not as durable as some of the more expensive substrates and may have a tendency to warp on larger panels. FOME-COR® is available in sizes up to 48" x 96," with thicknesses of 3/16" or 1/2," in white or black.

Corrugated Fluted Board

Perfect for POP displays and packaging prototypes. E-flute is 1/32" thick, B-flute is 1/16" thick. Both are available in sizes up to 60" x 120" in either Kraft or white faced.

Gatorfoam®

Gatorfoam® is the most rigid and durable of all the lightweight foam center boards. It has a hard shell casing in place of the paper casing as on standard foam-core. Though it is slightly more expensive than Fome-cor® or JetMount®, it is an excellent choice for larger applications, long term use or when durability is a key issue. Gatorfoam®is available in sizes up to 48" x 96", 3/16" and 1/2" thicknesses, white or black.

Sintra®

A plastic (expandable PVC) panel, Sintra® is very durable but still retains some flexibility. It is strong and weatherproof making it ideal for outdoor applications, especially when mounted to adhesive-backed vinyl. Sintra® is available in sizes up to 60" x 120", 1/8" and 1/4" thicknesses. We stock black and white but many other colors are available as a special order.

Styrene

(Polystyrene) is another solid, plastic board but is thinner and more flexible than Sintra®. It works well for curved displays and is acceptable for outdoor use. Styrene is available in .020", .040" and .060" thicknesses, in sizes up to 48" x 96", white or black.

Die Bond

Aluminum board with a bright white finish for vibrant prints. Resists scratching better than wood panels, lightweight, highly durable and strong. Can easily be cut or routed.

Coroplast™

This is a 4mm thick corrugated plastic panel which is safe for outdoor use. It's very light, but not rigid or tough. Coroplast™ is available in sizes up to 48" x 96" in white only.

Plexiglas®

An optically clear acrylic panel most commonly used for face mounting backlit prints for use in lightboxes, this product has a myriad of alternative uses including picture framing and as a clean, contemporary way of displaying family photo’s. Plexiglas® is available in sizes up to 48" x 96" of various thicknesses.

Illustration Board

A wide variety of paperboards are stocked suitable for indoor signs, counter cards and portfolio usage. Chipboard is an inexpensive, lightweight cardboard that works well for P.O.P. displays and small signs and is available in several thicknesses. Black matboard and black chromecoat are the most popular portfolio backing boards we offer. Many other alternative substrates can be made to order.

Contour Cutting

The Gerber M Series flatbed cutter is a powerful and versatile solution for automatic print-to-cut finishing in a wide variety of graphic outputs. From routing aluminum composites, cutting inkjet-printed corrugated plastics and foamboard, to contour cutting and creasing digital offset graphics, the Gerber M Series can handle all your finishing needs accurately and 100% digitally. Outfitted with the M-Vision automatic registration system, the Gerber table will cut in register, every time.

We specialize in quantities from 1 to 100. With our state of the art CAD system we can help you create a unique design that will give you the edge to land those larger jobs.

We are a full service graphics company offering services from simple vinyl lettering to full automotive wraps, custom wallpaper and window clings.
